At the time of our inspection 27 people were using the service. This provider is required to have a registered manager to oversee the delivery of regulated activities at this location. A registered manager is a person who has registered with the Care Quality Commission to manage the service. Registered managers and providers are legally responsible for how the service is run, for the quality and safety of the care provided and compliance with regulations.

Effective governance supported by systems and processes enabled the provider and registered manager to continually develop the service through proactive monitoring. People’s views and that of family members were sought and changes were made in response to their feedback to continually improve quality outcomes for people. About the service Tickford Abbey is a Grade II listed building in Newport Pagnell that has been adapted to provide accommodation and personal care for up to 32 older people, some of whom are living with dementia.
All the staff are extremely helpful and on arrival, always appear aware of exactly where mum is. As part of the home’s commitment to best practice, all staff receive ongoing training in every aspect of care. When the priory was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1525, both abbey and land were given to Cardinal Wolsey who annexed “the superfluous house of Tickford”.

The home is a lovely marriage of old and new of traditional and contemporary.
